Healthy Living Coordinator

Basic Assignments: Under the direction of the Chambersburg Memorial YMCA's Fitness & Wellness Director, and consistent with the Y's mission, policies and guidelines of the Y; the Healthy Living Coordinator (HLC) is responsible to create a culture of health and wellness to a major YMCA community client. The HLC is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and services to employees of this client. The HLC is a highly visible representative of the Y's mission, themes, and character development values. He/she is responsible for knowing and properly executing all Y policies and procedures. The HLC is responsible for increasing awareness and engagement in company-wide health management programs. The HLC will work with insurance carrier of client to offer Wellness related programs. He/she is directly responsible for the growth, development, and implementation of all wellness programs, health and fitness membership recruitment and retention. The HLC is critical in innovating and developing new approaches to community health to change individual behaviors and drive risk reduction. The HLC will be involved with Wellness Groups within the community. The HLC will oversee the day-to-day operations of the onsite client Wellness Center and report any issues or concerns to the YMCA's Fitness & Wellness Director.

Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older. Bachelor’s degree preferred in a health related field. Two years experience in health-related program planning, delivery and instruction. Must be able to: perform quality work within given deadlines and meeting expectations with or without direct supervision; interact professionally with Y's employees, the Y client's employees, and other individuals within the community; serve effectively as a team contributor on all assignments; work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts in collaboration and partnership with other appropriate individuals within the community.

Before and After School Counselor Site Director

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking part-time Before and After School Site Directors to work with elementary aged youth. Site Directors develop, manage, supervise, and direct the operations of a School Age Child Care location. This program provides homework assistance, recreation, arts and crafts, and other engaging activities while maintaining a safe environment for youth. Site Directors focus on the development of every child while promoting and modeling the values of the YMCA. Great opportunity for those interested in education, human services, and youth development.

Applicants must have experience supervising children. Those with degrees in education or related fields are encouraged to apply!

Program hours are typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some planning time is included in this position.

Qualifications:- Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in a human services or education field. Must obtain necessary clearances, Pediatric First Aid and CPR, current physical exam with TB test, and 2 written references. Minimum of two years of experience working with children required.

Counselor for Before & After School Care

The Y is hiring part-time staff for its Before & After School program for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The staff supervises youth, as well as helps with homework, organizes gym games and plans activities for K-5 children. Applicants preferably have experience with children, but those working on degrees in education are encouraged to apply!

Group Fitness Instructor

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking qualified fitness professionals to teach high quality group fitness classes ranging from Active Older Adult, Cardio and Strength classes, Kickboxing, TRX Suspension Training, Yoga, and Dance classes on a part-time basis.

The Group Fitness Instructor is the primary leader of a group fitness class under the general guidance of the Group Fitness Director and instructs all fitness classes within the guidelines of the YMCA to maintain the quality of programs.

Required Skills:

  • Practical demo with Group Fitness Director
  • Current nationally accredited group fitness certification (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NASM, NETA) is a plus
  • Current CPR/AED certification is a plus
  • Understand the basic components of a safe and effective group fitness class and have a comprehensive understanding of current health and fitness standards and principles
  • Take pride in professionalism by reporting on-time with a positive attitude and a passion to motivate others
  • Enthusiastic about group fitness classes and enjoy creating and delivering new, fresh, and innovative routines
  • Must have good speaking ability and display an outgoing personality, enabling him/her to relate well to participants
  • Model and promote YMCA mission and values through appropriate  behavior, appearance, words, and actions

Welcome Center Representative Part-Time

The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA is seeking an energetic part-time Welcome Center Representative.  This position requires you to be able to work various hours Monday through Sunday.


Position Summary:

The Welcome Center Representative will represent the YMCA personally, professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA.  The Representative will provide membership information and enroll new members, provide program registration and information, direct incoming phone calls, regulate lobby activity, and provide excellent member service by exceeding member’s expectations.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Customer service and telephone communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Able to relate well with staff and the public
  • Must be able to work various hours

ARK Child Development Center Teacher

The Chambersburg YMCA ARK Child Development Center is seeking qualified teacher applicants.  Part-time and substitute positions are available.  (Part-time position works approximately 29 hours per week.)  A high school diploma and experience working with children or education in child development, early education, or related field are required.
 
The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish effective relationships with parents and children, maintain high teaching standards, and work to create a positive, nurturing environment.  Teachers work together to create and maintain a stimulating educational environment for children ages 3 to 5 while helping them learn to love learning!  Excellent leadership, creativity, and communication skills are required.  Teachers utilize classroom technology and incorporate Christian values into the curriculum daily.  The ARK’s ideal preschool teacher is resourceful, excited, firm, loving, curious, and willing to try new things.
