Youth Department

Ark Child Development Center Preschool Teacher

The Chambersburg YMCA ARK Child Development Center is seeking qualified teacher applicants.  Part-time and substitute positions are available.  (Part-time position works approximately 29 hours per week.)  A high school diploma and experience working with children or education in child development, early education, or related field are required.
 
The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish effective relationships with parents and children, maintain high teaching standards, and work to create a positive, nurturing environment.  Teachers work together to create and maintain a stimulating educational environment for children ages 3 to 5 while helping them learn to love learning!  Excellent leadership, creativity, and communication skills are required.  Teachers utilize classroom technology and incorporate Christian values into the curriculum daily.  The ARK’s ideal preschool teacher is resourceful, excited, firm, loving, curious, and willing to try new things.

Before and After School Counselor - Site Director

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking part-time Before and After School Site Directors to work with elementary aged youth. Site Directors develop, manage, supervise, and direct the operations of a School Age Child Care location. This program provides homework assistance, recreation, arts and crafts, and other engaging activities while maintaining a safe environment for youth. Site Directors focus on the development of every child while promoting and modeling the values of the YMCA. Great opportunity for those interested in education, human services, and youth development.

Applicants must have experience supervising children. Those with degrees in education or related fields are encouraged to apply!

Program hours are typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some planning time is included in this position.

Qualifications:- Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in a human services or education field. Must obtain necessary clearances, Pediatric First Aid and CPR, current physical exam with TB test, and 2 written references. Minimum of two years of experience working with children required.

Counselor for Before & After School Care

The Y is hiring part-time staff for its Before & After School program for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The staff supervises youth, as well as helps with homework, organizes gym games and plans activities for K-5 children. Applicants preferably have experience with children, but those working on degrees in education are encouraged to apply!

Bus Driver

Position Overview: The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA is seeking dedicated, caring, and professional bus drivers to transport youth for various programs including Before and After School, gym and aquatic programs, and field trips. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting the children in accordance with PA Department of Motor Vehicle Regulations.
 
Qualifications:
• High school diploma is required.
• Experience working with children and youth is preferred.
• Current CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with School Bus and Passenger endorsements

Assistant Director of Healthy Living

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Assistant Director of Healthy Living is responsible for supporting the Director of Healthy Living with the development, implementation and management of the areas of wellness, fitness, sports & recreation and special events to include races and tournaments.  The incumbent will proforma duties assigned based on strengths and abilities within the departmental areas.  The incumbent will direct, manage and instruct designated programs within the Healthy Living Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.    Responsible for supporting the oversight, development and supervision of Healthy Living through:
       a.    Wellness – Promoting Wellness, Reducing Risk and Reclaiming Health
       b.    Fitness – Group Exercise, Wellness & Fitness Centers and Member Experience
       c.    Sports & Recreation – Leagues, Tournaments and Scheduled Recreation
       d.    Special Events & Races – Y and community partnerships  
2.    Planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating assigned programs and classes
3.    Assist with developing, monitoring and achieving departmental operating budget
4.    Developing and instructing assigned programming
5.    Recruiting, managing, developing and supervising assigned departmental personnel
6.    Recruiting, managing and supporting volunteers
7.    Submitting required reports and completing assignments professionally and on time
8.    Establishing, implementing, and maintaining community partnerships
9.    Ensuring all classes are staffed and subbed, when necessary
10.    Ensuring all sites have the necessary supplies and equipment, when applicable
11.    Planning special events and races (Wellness Days, Demo Days, outings, celebrations, etc.)
12.    Assuring and enhancing a culture of community
13.    Creating member engagement opportunities
14.    Enhancing membership retention and growth
15.    Participating in community partner sites events
16.    Attending staff meetings
17.    Maintaining all required certifications
18.    Adhering to all risk management and safety protocols
19.    Assist with fundraising events and campaigns
20.    Assuming other duties and projects as needed and as assigned

Spin Instructor

The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA is looking for a Spin Instructor who can teach mornings and/or afternoons. The position calls for someone who is engaging, upbeat, cheerful and loves fitness. Group Fitness Instructor

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking qualified fitness professionals to teach high quality group fitness classes ranging from Active Older Adult, Cardio and Strength classes, Kickboxing, TRX Suspension Training, Yoga, and Dance classes on a part-time basis.

The Group Fitness Instructor is the primary leader of a group fitness class under the general guidance of the Group Fitness Director and instructs all fitness classes within the guidelines of the YMCA to maintain the quality of programs.

Required Skills:

  • Practical demo with Group Fitness Director
  • Current nationally accredited group fitness certification (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NASM, NETA) is a plus
  • Current CPR/AED certification is a plus
  • Understand the basic components of a safe and effective group fitness class and have a comprehensive understanding of current health and fitness standards and principles
  • Take pride in professionalism by reporting on-time with a positive attitude and a passion to motivate others
  • Enthusiastic about group fitness classes and enjoy creating and delivering new, fresh, and innovative routines

Welcome Center Representative Part-Time

The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA is seeking an energetic part-time Welcome Center Representative.  This position requires you to be able to work various hours Monday through Sunday.


Position Summary:

The Welcome Center Representative will represent the YMCA personally, professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA.  The Representative will provide membership information and enroll new members, provide program registration and information, direct incoming phone calls, regulate lobby activity, and provide excellent member service by exceeding member’s expectations.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Customer service and telephone communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Able to relate well with staff and the public
