ARK Child Development Center

The ARK Child Development Center located at the William K. Nitterhouse YMCA Family Program Center is a state-of-the-art, early education facility for preschool children ages 3-5. At the ARK, students enjoy access to age-appropriate outdoor playground equipment, classrooms integrated with technology including Smart Board interactive white boards, and three indoor movement studios.

The ARK is a full-day early learning center focusing on the education, socialization, skill development, and spiritual development of every child. Following a theme-based curriculum modeled after the Chambersburg Area School District Kindergarten Readiness Program and in accordance with PA Common Core Standards, classes offer pre-kindergarten instruction, swim lessons, field trips, rest time, science experiments, dance and rhythm activities, story time, arts and crafts, and much, much more.

Open year round, Monday through Friday.  For more information click here.

Preschool Discovery Center

Children will follow a theme-based curriculum intertwining our Scholastic My Big World curriculum and the Chambersburg Area School District’s Kindergarten Readiness Program. The class stimulates developmental growth, academics, and emphasizes socialization. Activities include: weekly swimming lessons, gross motor development, creative play, art, story time and field trips all implemented by a certified teacher and trained YMCA staff.

Two age specific weekly classes are offered starting September of each year, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon: 3-year-olds meet on Tuesday and Thursday and 4-5 year-olds meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
