Important Update from our Executive Director
Dear YMCA Members and Participants,
As you know, the Chambersburg Memorial YMCA has a longstanding commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of the children and youth we serve. In line with this commitment, we are pursuing Praesidium Accreditation, a recognized leader in child protection and abuse risk management.
Praesidium Accreditation involves a standardized, consistent, and objective process that allows us to demonstrate our dedication to abuse prevention by meeting or exceeding established standards. This journey has led us to thoroughly review and realign our policies and procedures directly related to the safety of youth. Through this process, our staff and board have gained a broader and deeper understanding of our prevention systems and our surrounding culture, thus adding and adjusting policies and procedures as necessary.
One key area that has been addressed is the youth access within our YMCA facilities. Please take time to review the updated Chambersburg YMCA Youth Facility Usage Policy. Key components of this policy are age of youth, direct and/ indirect supervision accordingly and approved areas of access. Please see the updated effective policy below.
The Y is committed to providing youth continued access opportunities which include additional youth programming, providing scheduled areas of supervision as well as the return of Child Watch services. Please refer to program and facility schedules for continual updates as we progress.
Thank you for your support and continued trust in the Y as we continue to prioritize abuse prevention as it is vital to our mission and the communities we serve.
Respectfully,
Carla R. Christian
Executive Director
