POSITION SUMMARY: 
Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA programs, Before & After School Programs, Sport Programs, Summer Camps, Family Programs and other various programs. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent. 
2. One to three years related experience preferred. 
3. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications. 
4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. 
• Attend required abuse risk management training. 
• Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth. 
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. 
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. 
• Follow employees and volunteers’ screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. 
• Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk management 
• Ensure there is a positive culture for responding and reporting for employees and volunteers 
• Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth. 
• Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk and prevention. 
• Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the YMCA’s progressive discipline policy. 
• Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behavior. 
• Follow mandated reporting requirements. 
• Communicate to all employees and volunteers the YMCA’s commitment to zero tolerance of abuse to youth. Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors. 
• Develops, directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (see detailed list below). 
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 
• Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. 
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. 
• Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. 
• Coordinates use of facilities for programming activities and events. 
• Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events. 
• Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all members and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. 
• Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs. 
• Prepares monthly Board Reports regarding all areas of responsibility. This would include enrollments and brief summaries of the various programs. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed in a positive and friendly manner. 

PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES 

Before and After School Fun Club 

• Manages, directs and coordinates the school age childcare programs for assigned locations. 
• Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. 
• Facilitates high quality programming and establishes new program activities. 
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. 
• Reviews and evaluates staff performance. 
• Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 
• Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensure program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. 
• Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. 
• Provides for the upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living. 
• Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agencies, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. 
• Responds to all agencies, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. 
• Maintains proper records/department files. 
• Organizes special events for parents. 
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. 

Summer Fun Club 

• Under the direction of the Senior Youth Director, support the preparation and planning of Summer Fun Club. 
• Provide assistance with the overall supervision and implementation of the Summer Fun Club. 
• Functions as a Lead Counselor. 

YOUTH SPORTS 

• Plan, organize, and oversee youth sports programs to ensure safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experiences. 
• Ensure programs align with organizational goals, policies, and community standards. 
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise coaches, instructors, and volunteers. 
• Provide ongoing support, evaluations, and feedback to staff to maintain program quality. 
• Enforce safety guidelines, rules, and procedures for all activities. 
• Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and behavioral concerns. 
• Ensure compliance with required certifications and background checks. 
• Coordinate practice schedules, games, events, and facility usage. 
• Manage equipment inventory, setup, and maintenance. 
• Communicate schedule changes clearly with families and staff. 
• Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians regarding program expectations, concerns, and feedback. 
• Address complaints or conflicts promptly and professionally. 
• Foster positive relationships with schools, facilities, and community partners. 
• Evaluate program outcomes and participant satisfaction. 
• Recommend improvements or new program opportunities based on community needs. 
• Assist with registrations, attendance tracking, reports, and record keeping. 
• Support budget oversight, including program fees and expenses as needed. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

• Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs). 

EFFECT ON END RESULTS 

1. The Youth Director will develop and actively direct YMCA sports and fitness programming for youth while engaging families to promote a community environment. 
2. The Youth Director will provide a well-rounded curriculum of teen programs while establishing mentoring relationships that enhance a growing positive inclusive environment. 
3. The incumbent will maintain fiscal responsibility and satisfy budgetary guidelines to support the best interest of the YMCA. 
4. The incumbent will uphold all of the principles and goals of the Chambersburg YMCA’s mission statement for members and the community.

The Y is hiring part-time staff for its Before & After School program for the school year. The staff supervises youth, as well as helps with homework, organizes gym games and plans activities for K-5 children. Applicants preferably have experience with children, but those working on degrees in education are encouraged to apply!

The hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Applicants can work all shifts, or whichever shifts correspond with their schedules.

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking part-time Before and After School Site Directors to work with elementary aged youth. Site Directors develop, manage, supervise, and direct the operations of a School Age Child Care location. This program provides homework assistance, recreation, arts and crafts, and other engaging activities while maintaining a safe environment for youth. Site Directors focus on the development of every child while promoting and modeling the values of the YMCA. Great opportunity for those interested in education, human services, and youth development.

Applicants must have experience supervising children. Those with degrees in education or related fields are encouraged to apply!

Program hours are typically Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some planning time is included in this position.

Qualifications: Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in a human services or education field. Must obtain necessary clearances, Pediatric First Aid and CPR, current physical exam with TB test, and 2 written references. Minimum of two years of experience working with children required.

The Chambersburg YMCA ARK Child Development Center is seeking applicants for part-time preschool teachers. Teachers sing, dance, play, and craft every day. Summer Camp Counselor

Rock Steady Boxing is a health and wellness program designed for people with Parkinson’s, a neurological condition affecting balance, strength, walking, and especially confidence. It’s based on non-contact boxing, which has proven very effective in improving all the symptoms people experience with this disease. The Parkinson’s Foundation has been recognized Rock Steady Boxing as one of three Accredited Exercise Education programs. It has grown into a thriving international nonprofit organization with more than 840 affiliates. Rock Steady Boxing Coach responsibilities:

• Comply with the Rock Steady Boxings Affiliates established guidelines.
• Design classes that incorporate the current “Plan of the Week”, the space and equipment available and the individual levels of each boxer.
• Determine the limitations and abilities of each boxer by evaluating both their Parkinson symptoms and their overall health and fitness status.
• Offer encouragement, motivation, discipline and hope

Prerequisites for applying to be Rock Steady Boxing Coach:

• The trainee must hold ONE of the following:
  • a medical professional license
  • an NCCA-certified fitness professional or equivalent certification (We do NOT accept non-proctored certificates from ISSA & NASM)
  • a degree in an exercise science-related field 
• Training:  10-hour Rock Steady Boxing online training 
  • Additional Recertification every 2 years
• Available to work 4-5 hours per week
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30PM - 4:45PM 
  • Other class times may be available
• Ability to have FUN!
• No previous boxing experience necessary
